The top travel trends for next year have been predicted, Travel Weekly has reported.
According to travel association Abta’s 2012 travel trends report, France, Greece, Italy, Spain and the US are all expected to be popular destinations next summer.
Cruising, adventure, exploration, learning and activity holidays are predicted to be in demand next year, while the number of couples opting for an overseas wedding is also expected to rise in 2012.
According to Abta, one in five UK couples currently have their wedding abroad, with the average amount saved by doing so being £12,500.
Abta chief executive Mark Tanzer commented, “2011 has been a challenging year but the British public showed resilience when it came to their holidays and we expect a similar picture in 2012.
“The squeeze on household spending looks set to continue and this is likely to see holidaymakers become more discerning about where they spend their money and what they get for it.”
